Queenstown Hill – Te Tapu-nui (mountain of intense sacredness)

Distance : 4.2 km  Elevation gain : 500m Total elevation : 907m

Parking : Free & plenty of parks on the road if carpark is full

Dogs : No 🙁

Summary : Relatively easy hike with a couple of steeper sections. Great views of Ben Lomond, Lake Wakatipu and downtown Queenstown.

The carpark for the trail is located about 5 minutes drive from the centre of Queenstown.

The track is nice and wide so you can take it at your own pace and enjoy the beautiful pine forest and fairy gardens on the way up. There is a fork in the road close to the top. I find the left track to be slightly more challenging just because the trail is not as level. Both ways will take you to the Basket of Dreams and from there it’s a short walk to the summit.

Difficulty : 1/5
